Killing the Mac Startup Sound

When I first used a mac (it was a PowerMac G3 Blue&White), I found the startup sound well composed, attracting and nice. Now after using an iBook (don’t hit me!) for more than 1,5 years, it gets annoying.

Not to mention when being at a silent place (like a train, presentation, etc) it is a pain having this startup noise.

Because this, last time when I have attended a presentation I had to wait more than a hour to power on.

After a quick search Arcana Research’s StartupSound.prefPane solved my problems. It can change the volume or even mute it. Hope you like it.
