About me

Hello, my name is Alex Beregszászi, a FLOSS advocate and multimedia developer.

My first notable contribution to the free software community was working on MPlayer with adding ALSA support until I have been awarded the project maintainer rank. In the meanwhile I contributed to FFmpeg and helped designing the NUT Container Format. Also I occassionally write to the Multimedia Research Institute’s Wiki.

In 2005 I added Bochs and Conectix Virtual PC disk image support to QEmu and some years later submitted Parallels code. At the same time I started hacking LGPLd PC BIOS and the LGPLd VGA BIOS.

In 2007 I joined LinuxBIOS, which is now called coreboot.

Other software contributions include UHA, LRMI and Vesautils.

Ohloh measures most of my opensource contributions: ohloh profile for Alex Beregszaszi

My non-software contributions include advocating CAcert, FFII, Free Software Network and HuWiCo

This blog is my playground where I write about everything I stumble across and interests me, thus content can be ranging from photography, design, cultures, languages to coding and multimedia, but the main subjects are the latest two including my projects.

View my photos and favourites on Flickr and find some interesting links at my del.icio.us bookmarks.
